As the two toddler-sized pairs of underwear soaking in my laundry-room attest, “it happens.”
Unpleasant things suddenly happen.
One needn’t be an expert on the human condition to know that even as Vermont slides away into the Connecticut river, right now there’s a dad somewhere balancing his hackey sack on his head to make his frightened kid laugh.
Our job as parents is to make the best of it.
“It,” being, of course, the thing that happened.
Or, in this case, never happened.
Due to torrential rains and an especially gloomy forecast, CT Dad’s pool party is now planned for August 13th at 6 PM in Wolcott, Connecticut.
The new CT Dads’ dinner July location is at Wood ‘n Tap in Wallingford on July 16th at approximately 6 PM.
Why only approximately?
Because the actual start time is whenever the 3:15 PM screening of the new Indiana Jones movie (2 hr 34 min runtime) lets out from that same parking lot’s movie theater.
We were expecting a party and still hope for one (next month).
But since Mother Nature didn’t agree, let’s honor Father Nurture indoors with a well-deserved dinner and a show.
The more nocturnally-inclined might enjoy the 9:40 PM show though our dinners often run a bit later (especially if you’re getting popcorn).
Tickets to the 3:15 PM matinee showing cost $8 and may be purchased here.
